Over 25,000 personnel will be involved in the live and virtual warfare training.
The U.S. Navy and Marine Corps are preparing to launch the second iteration of Large Scale Exercise, which will run from August 9 through 18. The exercise will be headquartered at the Navy Warfare Development Center at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia.
U.S. Fleet Forces Command, U.S. Pacific Fleet, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa Command, Marine Forces Command, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Europe and Africa, and U.S. Marine Corps Forces Pacific will all be participating in the exercise, which will utilize nine maritime operations centers and six carrier strike groups.
Lt. General Brian Cavanaugh, commander of Marine Forces Command, said, “From the tactical end where we have the sailors and Marines doing operations on the ground or at sea, all the way up to the command and control aspect, our ability to synchronize and conduct those operations are critical.”
“The ability to command and control our operations across 22 time zones is how we will fight and win in a global environment against our competitors,” said Admiral Daryl Caudle, head of U.S. Fleet Forces Command. “To do so, we have to globally synchronize precision and timing in order to conduct high-end modern warfare.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for Admiral Caudle as he heads the U.S. Fleet Forces Command.
- For the various commanders and leaders as they train thousands of sailors and marines in the exercise.
- For Defense Department officials as they evaluate the most effective methods to defend America’s interests.
